Training with the Trainer: TurnItIn AI Indicator

Training with the Trainer: TurnItIn AI Indicator In-Person / Online

Session registration link:  https://calendly.com/tiicec/next-steps

Agenda:  What happens after the AI indicator has flagged a paper as potentially containing generative AI content? This session is for those who may be reviewing student papers that have been flagged for AI, including student conduct administrators and instructors. If you can benefit from the example of a working model of paper evaluation designed to highlight other signals of AI as part of a contextualized review of student papers, and have experience with the ins and outs of the AI indicator, this session is for you.

Special guest, Marilyn Derby, Associate Director of Student Support and Judicial Affairs at UC Davis, California, will share with us a possible method for evaluating student papers which have been flagged for AI generative content.

This session will cover:

  • How to thoughtfully conduct a review of a paper flagged by the Turnitin AI indicator
  • Potential signals of AI in student writing
  • Things to keep in mind while evaluating student papers

In advance of the session, in addition to making sure you have either used the AI indicator recently or have attended a recent introductory session about the AI indicator, we recommend reviewing the following:

One size does not fit all: Interpreting Turnitin's AI writing score

Academic integrity in the age of AI: Educator Resources

Registering is one of the only ways to receive a link to the archived session, so please be sure you register, even if you cannot attend.

If you are in need of an introductory session to refamiliarize yourself with the Turnitin AI indicator, you can register for a session on our group events page.

We look forward to connecting with you soon!
